Time for Requests

Hi! I've listened through your comps and you've got a really good taste, I must say! A request would be the whole The Anvil Band LP, really eager to hear it:)

Hi again! Since I don't know spanish I might have misunderstood, I realize that you might have had rules to the requests. Anyway, thank you for a great blog;)

MOLTA FORÇA I TREMPERA AMIC SOLSOUL I FINS AVIAT FROM Vva.i la g.

Hola, Mothers, Fathers, Sisters & Brothers!!

- "Eloise Laws" - Eloise Laws (prod. by Thom Bell)
-"Dee Dee" - Dee Dee Bridgewater (prod. by Thom Bell)
- LP de Grady Tate producido por Baker-Harris -Young (en Janus)
-"The Bicentennial Poet" - Jean Claude - T (PIR, 1977)
-"Happy Birthday America" - Soul Survivors (12'' PIR, 1977)
- "Soul Survivors" - Soul Survivors (TSOP, 1975)
- "The Unemployement Blues" - Force Of Nature (PIR, 1975)
-"Half & Half" - Cleveland Eaton (Gamble, 1973)

Raysol: tengo el vinilo "Now Is The Time" de los Blue Notes (ABC, 1977, de importación!). A disponer.

Perdonad el súper-mega-rollo (hacía tiempo que no "buidava el pap", :-)). Salu2 y Soul Food!!

I'm glad I found this blog 3 months ago. I've discovered so many Philly productions I didn't know existed.

My preference is philly stuff from the early 1970s on rare labels like Virtue (not Sigma Studios, but from the sister studio Virtue Studios, which used the same musicians), TSOP (any more Kaleidoscope stuff?), and any other rare philly 45s that haven't been put onto CD.

I definitely would like to hear the Anvil Band album in full.

Also, I don't know if this counts as philly-like, but the Brothers EP with the longer versions of Make Love and Brothers Theme would be great to hear. At one point, the Brothers did include Jimmy Young, who drummed on the Moment Of Truth LP on Salsoul.

Thanks for your nice comment! Remember to post the comments with a NAME (i dont like that anonymous nick)

Ok, I'm ripping again The Anvil Band for you people, expect it really soon. Awesome album.

Also,I have The Brother LP (not the EP so) and was one of my big treasures which i found last year. Its really really enjoyable. That Ep sounds interesting but hey, i love the last track of the album: "Last Chance To Dance" not included on the EP... xD

Cheers!

Can I call myself Filly Phan? I prefer using nicknames than real names.

I look forward to checking out the Anvil Band! A Vince Montana Jr production from what I understand.

The Brothers LP 'Don't Stop Now' is a great LP. The EP was a 12" with Under The Skin on the A side and Make Love and Brothers Theme on the B side. Make Love on the 12" is a minute longer than the LP, and Brothers Theme is about 2 minutes longer, but the record is really hard to find. I thought you might have had it.

Thanks again for your awesome Philadelphia soul samples. I'm always happy to discover new recordings featuring the guys who became MFSB, Philly Groove Orchestra, Salsoul Orchestra, etc..

Hola Solsoul,
greg

I just thought of a really challenging find for you. I haven't seen it anywhere. Did you know there was a follow-up LP to Anthony & The Imperials' Philly LP 'On A New Street'? If you've seen the single 'I've Got To Let You Go' b/w 'Hold On' (a remake of the Persuaders song), this was supposed to be followed by the LP 'Hold On', produced by Tony Bell and Phil Hurtt. But that album was cancelled by AVCO due to poor sales. But it WAS released in one country - Venezuela. I saw a scan of the cover somewhere on the internet a while ago, but haven't found it since. If you can score a copy of that and post it, it'll be like the holy Grail of philly finds!
