No pude resistirme.
Buenisima.

Major's second LP for Atlantic -- for some reason not as sublime as the first, but still in a very similar mellow lovin soul mode. The set was recorded at Sigma Sound, with arrangements by Norman Harris, Ron Kersey, and Bobby Eli -- and it's more than a strong showing from the Philly team, very much in the mode of their other work at the time. Titles include "Walkin In The Footsteps", "Jealousy", "I Got Over Love", "Tynisa", "It's Got To Be Magic", and "What's The Use In The Truth".

Major Harris' soulful, smokey voice exudes emotion on "I Got Over Love," "Jealousy," and a remake of Blue Magic's "Talking to Myself." Four of the eight songs are courtesy of Joe Jefferson and Charles "Charlie Boy" Simmons; there's two by Bobby Eli and Vinnie Barrett (neé Gwendolyn Woolfolk), an Eli/Collins song, and "Ruby Lee," by Ron Baker and Norman Harris. Jefferson is Major's brother, and Harris his cousin -- a family affair.

Thanksfor this - I didn't know this album
I think this record is better than My Way. All of the tracks work, and it's kind of a concept LP. Most of the songs are sombre, with the exception of It's Got To Be Magic.
By the way, if you like the title cut, the 45 release was mixed a little differently by Tom Moulton. The low key Fender Rhodes intro was replaced with an uptempo instrumental section. They probably wanted to gear it more towards a dance audience than a soul music listening audience.

I should add that his next Philly project would be a single on WMOT, featuring Laid Back Love, an uptempo shuffle number, backed with This Is What You Mean To Me, done in that similar heavy tom drum beat like Jealousy. That song was later covered by Arthur Prysock on the John Davis produced All My Life LP.
The next Philly LP that Harris would put out would be a weird album called Best of Major Now and Then in 1981. It includes Love Wont Let Me Wait and the 45 mix of Jealousy, plus Laid Back Love and a number of other Bobby Eli produced tracks. Mostly slow numbers, there's a few shuffles, and a couple of mid to up tempo dance numbers. Sounds like it must have been recorded before '81 and they dug it out, it's not clear.
